Clarity wins £2.3m Sodexho order: Major new deal with leading contract caterers

In a landmark contract for the company, Clarity has signed an agreement expected to be worth £2.3 million over three years with Sodexho, one of the world's largest providers of catering and business support services.

Clarity will provide central management and retail point of sale software solutions to over 100 major UK sites, installing over 700 terminals and helping Sodexho to drive operational and corporate performance. Sodexho UK provides catering and support services to the business and industry, healthcare, education, leisure and defence markets.

We envisage that this software will deliver a series of benefits across our estate, allowing us to refine and improve the offer provided to our clients, and improve profitability in our operations

Gary Barr, IT Director at Sodexho

Multi-format solution

Clarity will be implementing integrated, multi-format software solutions to major UK locations serviced by Sodexho, initially focused on four of its key market streams: business and industry, defence, healthcare, and leisure. Examples include:

  • Business and industry: BAE Systems, GlaxoSmithKline, Honda, Ford, MBNA Europe Bank
  • Defence: Hyde Park Barracks, Catterick Garrison
  • Healthcare: Hereford Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital
  • Leisure: Blenheim Palace, Royal Ascot, Chelsea Flower Show

Software and services provided

Clarity will provide Sodexho with software and services based around its flagship product, Clarity Central, as well as site-based POS and back office software. Under the contract the latest hardware will also be provided by Clarity, working in partnership with Wincor Nixdorf. Specifically designed for the hospitality sector, over 700 'Beetle-iPOS' terminals will be installed at customer service points in a variety of trading outlets.

Sodexho needed central control plus complete flexibility. Clarity's head office applications enable Sodexho to tailor their IT systems to widely differing contracts. The power of Clarity Central can work for other businesses too, who can be reassured by this strong endorsement from a leading international company.

Strada continues rollout: Clarity software drives chain's growth

Strada, the stylish Italian restaurant chain and long-term Clarity software client, has announced its intention to grow its UK estate to 100 sites, describing its partnership with Clarity as a "vital ingredient" in this strategy.

Smooth operation

Strada's Openings Manager, Jo Daniell, commented,

Our partnership with Clarity has been instrumental to the Strada group's successful operation, and is a vital ingredient in our rapid expansion programme.

  • Quick access to daily figures
  • Easy management and distribution of menus & prices to sites
  • Fast, cost effective installation of new sites

The Pleisure principle: Clarity systems key to pub group success

For almost a decade, Clarity has provided the IT systems to pub chain Pleisure, helping the company raise standards and maintain success.

Upgrade lowers overheads

Pleisure, a small pub chain, first installed Clarity POS in 1996, and has recently completed a full upgrade across the estate, linking every pub to head office using Clarity Central. Pleisure needed a system that delivered real benefit, without creating administrative overheads. So, price and product changes for the chain now only have to be done once; and head office reports are delivered by the system, reducing phone calls and spreadsheet work.

Improved financial control

Pleisure cites improved financial control as the fundamental benefit its IT system delivers. Advantages include:

  • Improved cashflow
  • Easier forecasting
  • Enhanced reporting
  • Faster identification of site irregularities
  • Reduced administrative overheads

Pleisure's Financial Director, Vicky Wright, comments:

Clarity's system gives us control at each site, despite widely varying stocking policies, pricing structures and promotional programmes.

Our Pleisure

And what about Clarity's service? Vicky Wright says,

Without fail the individuals I have dealt with have been friendly, professional and committed to customer service.

Clarity Business Consultant Roger Jarman concludes,

We look forward to another decade of successful partnership.
