Flaming Nora is an ambitious, privately funded restaurant chain, which is challenging traditional images of takeaway grilled foods. The start-up enterprise was founded by a British management team with a wealth of experience in global restaurant names such as KFC, and which brings big business thinking and dynamic branding into this normally low-key retail arena. With plans for 200 stores, Flaming Nora promises high quality, fresh food served straight from the grill, plus a selection of gifts, confectionary, household and convenience items suitable for its late night customers.
Brief
Flaming Nora was seeking an effective and easy to use retail point of sale solution (POS), which would drive financial performance and allow the delivery of customer service to match their quality products. In line with the ambitious growth targets, the company needed a sufficiently scalable system for a large, multi-site operation, and an IT supplier with the infrastructure for rapid rollout and outstanding customer support.
In an industry where staff turnover is notoriously high, Flaming Nora specified ease of use and speed of training new staff as key requirements. The business also wanted an IT supplier with the ethos and capability to deliver integrated software solutions as the outlet base grows, giving the potential for loyalty and promotional programmes, web ordering, and other innovations once the business reaches critical mass.
Solution
Clarity installed its POS solution, already well proven in retail hospitality environments. Effective in single site businesses, Clarity POS will come into its own as Flaming Nora expands its outlet base, enabling central management of POS layout, site functions and permissions. With every POS terminal controllable from head office, Flaming Nora will be able to ensure consistency and standards are upheld across the estate. Outcomes
As well as a successful launch, Clarity delivered an immediate quick win by finding a way of dealing with telephone orders, which proved relatively straightforward owing to the software's inherent flexibility. The system has lived up to Clarity's promises of ease and speed of use, and by 'training the trainers', Flaming Nora has been empowered to get new staff going on the system incredibly quickly, maximising efficiency and minimising costs.
Flaming Nora has already noticed a shared ethos with Clarity, based around building customer relationships over the long term, and is keen to adopt further Clarity solutions to drive its promotional activity and staff management functions.
